1990 Reunion 2010

UPDATE 02/16/2010
Our 20 year class reunion will be the weekend of June 11-12th, 2010. We have gotten an overwhelming response, so we should all have a wonderful time. We would love for every classmate to be there! Please contact me for information and registration forms. If you are unable to make it, we would still like for you to fill out a page for the booklet which will update our classmates on your whereabouts and what is going on in your life.

Julie Lavender Borowitz

First of all, let me say that we are going to TRY to primarily communicate our reunion plans via facebook and email. If you know of classmates who are not on FB, please either tell them about our FB page or get me their contact information. It is very important that we contact all of our classmates with information about our reunion! I will send registration information (when the information is complete and ready!) via email with attachments in Word 2007.

Remember, the dates for our reunion are June 11-12.For this reunion, we decided to make "flexibility" a focus rather than wear all of us out with structured events (and having so much structure WITHIN the events scheduled)!

Our Friday night plans include a "(Re)Meet and Greet" at AHS from 6:00-8:00p.m. We will get "checked-in," tour the new facilities, and have very light refreshements. Then we encourage you all to get with old classmates and eat on your own. After, eating, enjoy your own plans! For example, a group will be going to Shooter's Sports Bar, where I am doing my best to arrange for the club to have an 80's music band there that night so we can enjoy some "Flashback Fun!" Any and everyone is welcome to meet after dinner there, or feel free to make your own plans and invite others to your event!

Saturday at Noon, we will have some family time (bring kiddos) at Bringle Park. This is located near the new Texas A&M campus, so those of you who are no longer around can see Texarkana's newest higher education facility! We will give more information as the reunion gets closer including directions to the park and what you will need to bring.

We are very excited about our Saturday evening event because it's going to invlove someplace new to someplace familiar in our area: the new banquet room at Zapata's! This new banquet room, adjacent to the original restaurant facing Broad Street, will hold 300 people, will have it's own kitchen, bar & buffet area, and will have plenty of room for what ever entertainment we choose to have! It is expected to be open by the holidays, but Julie Lavender Borowitz and I took a quick informal tour of the facility yesterday afternoon, and we are very excited! They are planning to build an outside patio area, and we are hoping that will be completed in time for our reunion. If you are familiar with Zaps, you know that it has been a very popular place for the past several years, and has great food, beverages and atmosphere! Our buffet menu will include awesome beef & chicken fajitas with the "fixings", beans, rice, chips & salsa. I have included two links to the place: the first is the restaurant's website, http://www.zapatabarandgri ll.com/map.htm , and is from tripadvisor.com, which includes reviews about Zapata's, http://www.tripadvisor.com /Restaurant_Review-g31953- d671930-Reviews-Zapata_s_M exican_Restaurant-Texarkan a_Arkansas.html

I have had several volunteers to offer to assist with committees, and I have a few in mind that I will be contacting in the next week or so to chair those committees. I "THINK" the only committees we will need are decorating for Friday and Saturday and entertainment for Saturday. If you are interested in helping on one of these committees, I will let you know who to contact soon! Booking our event at Zapata's has taken care of location, food & drink committees. We already have photographer booked (who will also take care of greeting, giving name tags, and cheking in unpaid classmates) & memorium committees taken care of. Joe Stephens has volunteered to chair the memorium committee, so if you are interested in helping with that, I will get you his contact information. Speaking of memorials, we need to know all who have passed. In addition to the ones who had passed at our 10-year reunion, I know we have lost Sandy Ryan and Robert Flagg. Please let me know if you know of others who have passed.

One last great suggestion to wrap up a great weekend: for those of you not traveling back home already, some have suggested on Sunday morning attending classmate, Reginald Reid's church! I am sure we will have more information to follow on that, as well.

INFORMATION OVERLOAD? I think that gets it for now. I will update you again soon! Thanks you all....this is going to be fun!!!
