Eric Andrew Warfield was born on March 3, 1976 in Vicksburg, Mississippi ... He is the first player from the state of Arkansas to earn a football scholarship for the Cornhuskers since those records began being kept in 1971 ... Attended Arkansas High School in Texarkana, Arkansas, the same city where his mother currently runs a foster home ... Hosts an annual football camp in his hometown along with fellow Texarkana native Rod Smith ... Worked closely with the Love Fund for Children, inviting foster children to Arrowhead for each home game and following up on Tuesdays with a pizza party and locker room tour ... In 2002, he took a group of children to dinner and the opening night of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" ... In 2003 he took a group, via limo, to the opening night of "Cat and the Hat."

 


Eric Warfield was signed by the New England Patriots as a free agent on April 3, 2006 ... Originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round (216th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft ... Released by the Chiefs (3/2/06).

 Eric is currently back in Lincoln serving the community by mentoring young children, sponsoring blood drives, and serving food at the Matt Talbot Kitchen. He also spends his down time enjoying some pick up basketball at the University of Nebraska city campus rec.
