THE ARKANSAS HIGH SCHOOL BANK.

In January, 1916, it was decided to organize a school bank in Arkansas High School. This bank was named the Arkansas High High School Bank, although it was open to the other schools.
On February 2, 1916, the bank was opened with George Beasley as cashier and John Offenhauser assistant cashier. An office was established and the bank was ready for business. A large amount of stock was soon sold and the deposits began to roll in. It was soon necessary to appoint directors and assistant cashiers for the other schools.
The object of this bank was to teach the students to save their nickels and dimes. Especially was this so for the younger students. At the same time it gave them a knowledge of banking.
At the next annual meeting of the directors, John Offenhauser became cashier with Franklin Pinson assistant cashier. The bank continued to enjoy prosperity, although the deposits were not as large as they had been the first year.
John Cook became the next cashier with Blanton Booker assistant cashier. After a few months it became necessary to close the bank on account of the War Savings Stamps drive. This year it was decided to reopen the bank. It is now open for business and we hope this will be its most prosperous year. We solicit your patronage and submit the following statement of the bank on February 19, 1920.
